“Over the past few years, we explored many ways to make low-alcohol beers. The reverse osmosis method gave by far the best-tasting result. It allows us to brew and ferment as normal, then gently remove the alcohol at cold temperatures — preserving all the flavour and aroma. It’s high-tech magic that lets Ghost Ship sail free from alcohol, but full of its original character.”

The awards are judged blind so the awards are based solely on the taste and quality of the products.

Alcohol Free Beers are made just like the alcoholic ones with water, yeast, hops and barley. Some are brewed to a lower ABV and some have the alcohol removed through various techniques. Across Europe beers below 0.5% ABV are classed as alcohol free. In the UK drinks that are between 0.05% and 0.5% ABV are classed as non-alcoholic.
